Vespa Belt Snap.
Friday 26th July was a bad hair day for me the Vespa belt snap while commuting home after Friday prayer in KLIA. I was in a hurry, to meet someone that afternoon. Luckily for me there was a transport loader pass by just within minutes of the incident.
I am ready to replace the belt at the emergency lane, but since the loader is there and I have an appointment, decide to take the easy route.
So on the lorry and off we go.
Later I remove the belt housing to inspect the damage.
The belt snap to pieces, I check the ODO it’s about 36000 km, It was the original belt since new. Usually the the most people go before replacing is 20000 km.. just pushing my luck I guess. Luckily nothing damage.
I have all the special tool tuck away in the scooter and a spare belt, I just use those tools to do the replacement.
Above the rear pulley holder before removing the housing to hold the rear pulley for its nut removal.
Variator removed and nothing damaged.
Spare belt and roller that I always have at bay just incase things like this happen.
Testing the Vespa after belt drive removed, to ensure nothing else damaged.
All done, take about an hour to do. Those belts are spare of various length just for trying out.
So cheers, have a nice day.
